Katyayani Puja/Katyayani Devi Puja & Yajna (कात्यायनी पूजा और यज्ञ) :  “O Ma Katyaayani! I bow my head. You are Maha Mayey (provider of happiness), Supreme Lord of all great Yoginis, Please grant me a husband of my choice who have appearance and qualities like son of Nanda ( Lord Krishna)”. Katyaayani is the sixth form of Goddess Durga. Sage Katyaayan was the son of the great sage Kat. Katyaayan had observed rigorous penance and worship of “Bhagawati Paramba with a desire to get Paramba daughter. – Katyayani Devi Puja

The wish was granted and she took birth as a daughter of Katyaayan and therefore named as “Katyaayani”. She has four hands. The top right hand is positioned in a gesture of providing courage and the other hand is positioned in a gesture of rendering a boon. The top left hand is holding a sword and the other holding a lotus. The Goddess is mounted on a lion and she is worshiped on the sixth day of the Durga Pooja.
